The first updates to the new Animated Divots website are going to be awfully familiar, the usual updates to the Chronology of Animation and the List of Anime Television Series. The TV Series list has five new series added to it: B Gata H Kei; Kaichou wa Maid-sama!; Ookiku Furikabutte ~Natsu no Taikai-hen~; Ring ni Kakero 1 ~Kage Dou Hen~; and, Shin Koihime Musou ~Otome Tairan~.
Shortly after I moved my Animated Divots from Iowa State and creating http://www.animated-divots.com I realized that I had made a major mistake in making it a dot com site. For most of the time since I had first created the Animated Divots I had been able to host it on my university’s server, first at the University of Georgia, then at Iowa State. This site has always been meant to be an education site, hosting information sources on animation as entertainment, art form, and means of communicating other types of information. It was never meant to be a commercial site in any sense. Letting Animated Divots be confused with commercial intents has not been a happy situation for me.
Unfortunately, the Internet provider where http://www.animated-divots.com is located doesn’t allow renaming of domains.
I’ve lived with that situation for several years. However, during that time the provider has increased the fees, apparently to pay for features I don’t want. And, I have been frustrated by several other problems I have had with how the provider operates. Therefore, my frustration with http://www.animated-divots.com has grown.
Finally, I’ve taken a look at several other Internet providers and have now setup http://www.animated-divots.net. The http://www.animated-divots.com version will remain for a few weeks until the bill comes due. In the meantime I am updating a lot of the links within http://www.animated-divots.com so that users will be redirected to the new site. For a couple days the two site have had identical content on the information pages but with this weekend’s update they are now different.
I do hope that this change won’t be a major hassle for regular visitors to the site. As slight compensation I am planning to go through all the site and do some much needed updating. Please enjoy using the new Animated Divots.
