DVD: First Look Pictures, 2005.
Zurück nach Gaya (“Back to Gaya”; “Boo, Zino and the Snurks”) (f), Lenard Fritz Krawinkel and Holger Tappe /Ambient Entertainment. (Germany/Spain/United Kingdom). (Chronology of Animation entry)
This film was primarily made in Germany but was co-produced by companies from Spain and the United Kingdom. The animation is primarily motion capture but it does have good character designs and interesting backgrounds which puts it above a lot of the cheap cgi movies that have come out in recent years. I only got a copy recently and played it two nights ago.
I found the film both entertaining and interesting (despite the somewhat muddled ideas behind it). It did a good job of reversing typical cliche situations (the heroine ends up falling in love with one of the villains). Anyone expecting Pixar perfection will be disappointed but it definitely had its bright moments.
I’ve been told that my website will no longer support the blog that I’ve been using there for the past years or so. Consequently here I go with a new site, and, hopefully more interesting content than I had on the old (although the update info will continue ….).
Fortunately for my sense of historical continuity I have been able to bring all those dull Update posts over to the new site.
